• 10/1/2008 - It’s already been one year since the label’s .net site has been running..and
it’s been a slow but yet exciting time. The New England roots rockabilly scene has most certainly slowed down. We’re sure it has mostly to do with the insane gas and economy crunches that everyone has suffered from, and also the passing trends that weed out the flock so to speak. There was also a small hiatus with us for the last month and a half..but after some contemplation and teamwork, Revival Records is going to continue on and slowly add on to our surplus of distro of New England Rockabilly and bands that surely deserve to be noticed in this scene.
We are going to start off with a full distro booth at the Hot Rod Fallout 3 in Glastonbury, CT. Many thanks to the people who bought the new Rollin’ Pins disks at Milltown! You sold us out that day, and also signed up for our mailing list. We wouldn’t want to flood you with e-mails without them being worthy of reading, so we will be announcing the official release of Monkey Business Vol.1 upon it’s time of release.
The projects we have in store are 45’s of our bands, and more distro always coming in! See you at the Fallout!

• 7/27/2008 - So.... we finally have a product of our labor! It’s called Monkey Business Volume 1. It includes the newest and most underrated rockabilly and hillbilly acts out today. It features some un-released and released tracks from:
Susquehanna Tool & Die Company (NY), Ace Brown & His Ohio Valley Boys (OH), Nate Gibson & The Gashouse Gang (MA), Johnny Carlevale & The Rollin’ Pins (RI), and Rockin’ Rodney & The Regulars (OH). Pre-orders are being taken already, and 45’s will be put out soon. All of our artiists will have singles for DJ’s and turntables everywhere.
Join the message board, it’s slowly generating traffic! In an era where homegrown music is dying fast, we have to keep it going. See you at our upcoming shows at Miltown Rod & Kustom show, Palmer MA, and The Hot Rod Fallout 3 Glastonbury, CT. We’ll have distro available at the One Arm Bandit Pinstriping booth!
Cheers

• 3/25/2008 - This has surely been a slow month. DBAG’s 2nd annual Birthday Hootenany at Jake’s Bar & Grille is coming up this weekend with The Rollin’ Pins, The Stumbleweeds, and DJ Little Joe spinning Black Rock & Roll all night. The Raging Teens, The Brimstone Assembly, and The Stumbleweeds played last year and it was a great time, and incredible turnout...hope you see you there.
The Rollin’ Pins recorded our upcoming CD/LP which brings back the late 50 ’s New England Rockabilly sound. It will be out on CD in May without any hold ups! In the meantime, Revival is going to be mainly focusing on distribution in the meantime, so we should have plenty of merch and CD’s to order this summer.
I’ll be filling in for The Stumbleweeds at Viva Las Vegas 11 on Friday night in the Nevada Ballroom @ 8:30pm. A couple of bands before the stars of Rockabilly sets! Ace Brown of the Rollin’ Pins/Ohio Valley Boys fame will be playing on Saturday night sitting in for Jason Hoss Hicks, and The Ohio valley Boys are on Red Hot & Blue Rockabilly Weekender in Montreal this year as well. That’s is it for now. Cheers -Derek RR

• 2/4/2008 - Getting ready for the short stint of gigs in Detroit, and Cleveland. Ace Brown & His Ohio Valley Boys have to re-track, and make some adjustments for the upcoming record. The Rollin ’Pins will do a set in Detroit w/ Loney from The Hi-Q’s filling in on drum duties, and are slated to record their upcoming LP in March. Dave Smith & The Country Rebels are playing bunch of NYC shows, and others. They have a great line up with Zack Shedd on upright bass (ex Satan’s Teardrops, Revival Preachers) with a few different guitarists in the rotation at the moment that give them a great all around sound. All Revival Records bands shows are posted in the shows section. We’ve been focusing mostly on graphic content and promotion in the last month. Our message board is cluttered with annoying ads at the moment (sorry!) so we are taking them off momentarily. In the meantime we encourage all bands, promoters, and everyone throwing events and shows to post them there, as well as anything else related to the Kustom Kulture music scene! We had 1000+ hits last week, so people are checking it out.
Sign up for the newsletter, which will be coming up on the site soon. We’ll post upcoming shows and new merch as it comes in. We have some great CD’s available now including:
Dave Smith & The Country Rebels debut CD - great Boston Area punk influenced country. I compare this CD to Mike Ness’ Cheating At Solitare as a template for a great new band that are quickly making noise.
You Must Be This Tall compilation - featuring Johnny Carlevale & His Band Of All Stars, The Rollin’ Pins, and The Bomboleros (great gypsy jazz trio w/ Jack Hanlon on upright bass; ex Amazing Crowns, Stumbleweeds, and plays for many New England greats) & Greg Burgess on guitar ex Amazing Crowns, Johnny Carlevale & His Band of All Stars, Brimstone Assembly, Wrong Reasons).
I still have some Brimstone Assembly MCD’s (about 3-4, so we’ll be taking them down soon) so if you haven’t heard it, you’re surely missing out!
We’ll be hanging out at Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly weekender 11 this April. We’re actually going to doing a small run of t-shirts to commemorate traditional rockabilly the way we like it. They won’t be available on the website until after the event so we can give people first dibs on them there! Ace Brown will playing a guest set with Jason "Hoss" Hicks. In the meantime, register on the message board, and check out and buy some merch! The P.O. box is opening up this week for any bands that are interested in Revival Records or want to send MO’s or checks for merch! Bands please include a press pack w/ bio. If you need to know what to do, feel free to contact us at info@revival-records.net. Be on the lookout for more pics with Dave Smith, a bi-weekly newsletter sent to your e-mail!

• 11/27/2007 - Just got back from The Ropin’ Records house after 3 hard working days and 16 all new tracks for the Ace Brown & His Ohio Valley Boys upcoming CD/LP. Please take a listen!
Ace Brown and His Ohio Valley Boys
Very authentic Western swing/jazz/rockabilly the way it was done in the late 40’s early 50’s, we’re really stoked with this material. They’ll be some live radio shows coming up to help promote the band and the upcoming release, one is booked in Cleveland on 2/14/08 at 91.1 WRUW studios, and a possible slot in DJ Easy Ed’s in Boston in December before the Christmas Rock & Roll Odyssey. We’ll be doing a limited run of 50 silk screen posters for the show this year, the art themes so far are looking pretty sweet. If anyone has tried to access the message board it’s currently on hold right now, we’ll let you know when it should be back up. -RR

• 9/8/2007 - We are proud to announce the site finally being done! There have been a ton of changes in the interim since this whole thing started, The Brimstone Assembly EPs will be still getting released at a later date, unfortunately the band will no longer be active. We decided to move on, and will still be produced, buisness as usual.
Be on the lookout for that in the next couple of months, in the meantime an EP from Nashvilles The Limit, and The Colonel & His Lucky Diamonds LP will be our next few releases available soon!
Look out for our merch table at The Big C jamboree in November in Chicago, Derek will be playing a few gigs with Ace Brown and His Ohio Valley Boys for a few dates out in the midwest.
The message board is also up for everyone to talk some smack, find out whats going on for shows and all that! Visit the Registration Page on the message board to sign up for a user account.
Any info, rants and raves feel free to drop us a line at derek@revival-records.net, thanks.
